Many students choose to serve while pursing their degrees and legislature accommodates their continuing service.

A soldier’s choice to serve their country should not negatively affect their academic progress in college. If you have on of the many students on Active Duty and/or in the National Guard, Reserve, or inactive reserve components, Michigan recognizes that there is a change they might be mobilized or recalled to active duty, or that there may be times when they need to miss class because their drill weekend is extended beyond their control. Students are responsible to keep you, their instructor, informed of all military-related absences, but service members are eligible for accommodations in these circumstances.
