Open the course in Moodle and then access the gradebook. Open the gradebook in a course by selecting Grades from the Administration block. In the gradebook, select the Outcomes tab.
Select the General Education outcomes covered by the course on the right-hand side of the screen.
After selecting the General Education outcomes covered by your course, click Add. These outcomes will now be available for student assessment in your course.
Select Edit settings for an assignment in the course. Select the Outcomes section of the assignment settings.
Select the checkboxes for all of the outcome capabilities being assessed. ALL of the capabilities for a Gen Ed outcome should be checked. In this case, Communication 1 – 4 should be checked.
Click Save and return to course.
For instructors that do not have students turn in assignments through Moodle.
Open the gradebook in your course by selecting Grades from the Administration block. In the grade book, select the Setup tab. At the bottom of the Setup tab, click Add outcome item. In the Grade outcome item screen, add the appropriate Item name. The item name should match the Outcome. e.g., Communication 1, Communication 2, etc.
Click Save changes.
Continue the process of adding outcome items for each of the Gen Ed outcome capabilities. e.g., Communication 1, Communication 2, Communication 3, and Communication 4. ALL of the capabilities for a Gen Ed outcome should be added. In this case, Communication 1 – 4 should be added.
If grading a Moodle assignment, the outcomes added to the assignment will appear in the Grade section when entering scores.
If entering outcome scores directly in the gradebook, click on the cell in the gradebook and use the dropdown menu to select the score for the capability.
