CIE is a big booster of the Lilly Conference, as you may remember from our last newsletter and every September newsletter for as far back as I can remember. But why wouldn’t we be excited about a national conference on teaching and learning right here in our backyard! The conference will be held face-to-face on Oct. 13-15 at the Park Place Conference Center in Traverse City.

This year is extra special because Lilly director Todd Zakrajsek will be the keynote speaker at the NMC Fall Conference on Oct. 11. If you are inspired by Todd’s talk and workshops — and you will be! — you can get more like it at the Lilly Conference. Here’s a link to the schedule.

The Lilly Conference aims to provide higher ed instructors with inspiration, proven techniques, and a community spirit, all in the interest of advancing student learning. There are several Lilly Conferences held around the country each year; at the TC conference, you can expect to meet college and university instructors from across the region.  (Note: The founding organization was funded by a grant from Eli Lilly and Company. Although there is no longer any connection, they’ve kept the name.)

NMC gets a discount on conference registration, so please sign up through CIE using the link below. This goes for full-time and adjunct faculty. You can go to the whole event or attend sessions around your teaching schedule. Hope to see you there!

Even if you can’t make it, here’s a link to The Scholarly Teacher blog, affiliated with The Lilly Conferences, with tips that can help you get back in the groove in the classroom or online.
