Do you have a student that needs extended time for testing or needs an extension on a due date for an assignment? No problem!

There are two ways you can grant extended time for testing: 1) User overrides set per quiz, or 2) Applying a no time limit role across the course.

In the case of granting an extension for an assignment, you can do this in the assignment grading area for assignments you have due dates set for.

Extended Time for Quizzes

Applying User Overrides

1. Open your quiz.
2. From the Settings menu, click on User Overrides.
3. Click the Add user override button.
4. Select the student.
5. Adjust the Time Limit (note that you can also change the open and close dates).
6. Click Save when finished.

Applying Student No Time Limit Role

If you don’t require a set time limit or would like a blanket setting across all your quizzes, call EMT and have us apply the “Student No Time Limit” role to the student who needs the accommodation. Once applied, the student will not be timed on any of the quizzes in your course.

Assignments: Granting an Extension

In your course in Moodle, after the assignment due date has passed:

1. Open the assignment by clicking on it.
2. Click the View/grade all submissions link.
3. For the student you wish to grant an extension to, click the Edit drop down menu in the Edit column.
4. Click Grant extension.
5. Click in the Enable check-box to check it.
6. Select the new Extension due date.
7. Click the Save changes button.
