As I am writing this, it’s a week before our classes begin. It’s true what they say- time flies! In the past couple of months, I have done intake on almost 40 students with documented disabilities, most of whom are first semester Hawk Owls. You might have received one of the 85 Accommodation Notification emails I sent last week. If so, you may have been notified that your student requires extended testing time, might have a note taker in class, or that the student requires handouts in a digital format to be used with text-to-speech technology. We will have several classes with sign language interpreters this semester. Please do contact me with any questions- that’s why I’m here. If you haven’t received that notice yet- just wait! Most of our experienced students wait until the last minute to request accommodations. I’ll be sure to let you know if you have a student requiring accommodations in your course. Together, we can make sure that the programs and services at NMC are accessible to everyone- even the young Hawk Owls. Null
