Jason Slade teaches in the Engineering and Marine Technology programs for NMC. He was recently nominated for a NISOD Excellence Award. Jason was nominated by Ed Bailey and Hans VanSumeren and received numerous letters of recommendation from the high school instructors whose students are in the Manufacturing Technology Academy.
One of Jason’s goals is to build a connection between the high school and NMC.
He facilitates the Manufacturing Technology Academy with high school students attending NMC through the Career Tech program. He fosters mentoring between the high school and UAV students. Jason provides mini-sessions with open hours for students to collaborate. He encourages NMC students to guide the high school students through processes rather than just doing it for them. The MTA students attend classes through the Career Tech Program and participate in the MTA at Parsons-Stulen Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m to 12:00. Another opportunity provided to students is the ability to take Calculus at PS so when they are finished at NMC, their day is complete. NMC and Jason Slade are proud to offer such a great bridge program for our local community.
Outside of NMC, Jason has a rich and busy home life. He and his wife Stacey have four children: a 6 year old, a 4 year old, and 9-month-old twins. Needless to say, sometimes he and Stacey like to go for a hike and Sleeping Bear Dunes is one of their favorite spots. Other times, Jason gets together with the NMC golf group and fills an afternoon with laughter.
Thanks and congratulations to Jason Slade for all his good work and contributions to the NMC community and regional community at large.
