Can’t Stop Talking About Barbie? There’s a Learning Community for That! 

Did you see Barbie? Did the film leave you feeling the need to discuss the many layers of subversive commentary on our society? Do you have points of love or critique that you absolutely must talk about with someone? Then this fun yet academic learning community is for you! Join Humanities Instructor Sarah Montgomery Richards and Sociology Instructor Rachel Wilczewski for a monthly fall learning community on the topic. In addition to discussion on the film we will also read brief related articles that center on film themes, critiques, and the changing notions of gender in society. Must have seen the movie to participate. Light snacks will be provided. 

Please email Rachel Wilczewski by Friday September 1st to sign up. A majority accommodating meeting day and time will be established via google calendar.

NOTE: CIE-sponsored Learning Communities are small groups of faculty, staff, and/or students who engage in activities that provide learning, pedagogy, and community. LCs have a facilitator and a small budget; they typically meet four or five times a year. Past learning communities include groups focused on student veterans, open educational resources, e-portfolios, and caregiving.
