In April I was awarded the NMC Foundation Innovation Grant. With those funds I purchased a campus-wide license for a text-to-speech literacy tool. ReadSpeaker, LLC offers several products that read text aloud, highlight as it reads, and even translates into different languages. Soon, ReadSpeaker Enterprise for Moodle will be added to our Moodle environment. The Listen button will appear on the Moodle shell of each and every class we offer. Students will be able to click the Listen button and highlight the text they wish to hear read aloud. Watch this helpful video to learn more.

In addition to ReadSpeaker for Moodle, I was able to purchase TextAid for several thousand users. Just how those will be distributed is yet to be determined. There will also be a Listen button added to our NMC web pages.

Although the products will be installed right away thanks to our Team EMT, watch for an official rollout and student/faculty marketing closer to the start of fall semester.  In the meantime, I am here if you have any questions or would like me to demo the products for you.
