International Services and Service Learning gets plenty of buzz for its Study Abroad programs that provide life-changing experiences for dozens of students each year. But sponsoring Study Abroad trips is only a fraction of the work that International Services does everyday to connect NMC to the global community.

Join us at this week’s Friday Forum to hear from Jim Bensely and Marina Call about the range of services and opportunities they provide to NMC students and faculty. From helping Multicultural Club students process news from the Middle East to arranging international discipline specific site visits, Jim and Marina are a clearinghouse of resources on all things international. Here are some of the other services they provide:

International Tea Party flyer

  • Helping faculty internationalize a course
  • Hosting international speakers and performers
  • Offering live and virtual international internships for students
  • Working with students to gain experience with international volunteer opportunities during semester breaks
  • Overseeing student completion of the NMC Global Endorsement
  • Working closely with the International Affairs Forum to set up classroom visits with monthly presenters
  • Facilitating community service learning, but that’s for a future forum!

Join us for lunch and International Tea this Friday, Nov. 3, from 12:30-2:00 in TJNIC 106/107. Jim and Marina will also discuss steps faculty can take to develop a study abroad opportunity for 2025. We look forward to seeing you there!
