The following are advising updates in preparation for Fall 2015 registration. Should you have questions or need further training in your department, please feel free to contact your liaison.
MATH: As of January 2015, all MTH 08 AND MTH 23 credits are earned in half-semester increments. Specifically, MTH 08 is offered as MTH 08A and MTH 08B, each earning 2 credits. The same is true for MTH 23 (offered as MTH 23A AND MTH 23B, each earning 2 credits). The A and B increments are linked in the “Class Schedule Listing.” The Math Department plans to offer “trailer” sections for students who do not successfully complete an “A” or “B”.
Beginning Fall 2015 MTH 10/23 AND MTH 11/111 will be discontinued. The “COMPASS/ACT Placement Guide” has been updated to reflect these changes. MTH 111 will be offered in full semester, 2 day or 3 day a week formats. This placement guide will also assist you in recommending a MTH 111 format (2 or 3 day a week) based on COMPASS scores.
MTA: The Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) took effect Fall 2014. Students who have attended NMC (continuously) prior to fall 2014 may still complete the MACRAO Agreement until the end of Summer 2019. A MTA vs MACRAO Comparison Worksheet and Group 1 Course Lists are available in Self Service at:
Self Service/Faculty and Advisors/Advising Tools/Advising Resources
MAP (My Academic Plan): MAP has been released to the campus. We encourage you to show your advisees how to access MAP to run a degree analysis and track progress towards degree completion. They can also use the “What if” feature to explore other programs of study.
