glassesOver the past week I spent my time with a bunch of Data Geeks talking about Student Success and Outcomes in Austin. There were 13,000 others talking Data from all walks of life.  Education, Retail, Healthcare, you name it the industry was accounted for.

Being with all of these different industries allowed me to see how looking for a solution to a problem can be viewed differently depending on what side of the spectrum you are on.

It was a great experience to be with others looking at problems through a new set of lenses.  It made me think about how we get in our own ways and sometimes may hinder the way we teach something to our students.

When teaching a new software or piece of technology sometimes I need to remove my norms to see things through the glasses of those who I am teaching.  This would allow others to be successful also. To help with student success we have to step outside our normal everyday roles and work with our students through their eyes.

Let me tell you I had quite a few Aha moments this past week.  I needed to take off my glasses and see things through new lenses so I didn’t miss a great opportunity.
