Full-time faculty need to complete our annual goals by Sept. 13 and CIE can help! We are funding two PD opportunities that can fulfill at least one of your goals.
- Attend the Lilly Conference: Advancing Teaching & Learning in Traverse City on Oct. 9-11. We are purchasing bulk registration at a discount, so please contact me first if you wish to attend.
- Participate in Confronting Racism: A Visit to the Jim Crow Museum on Nov. 1. The field trip to the museum in Big Rapids is sponsored by NMC’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging committee and facilitated through Extended Educational Services. To get reimbursed, fill out the PD request form and sign up through EES to make sure you get your employee discount. Then work with your office manager to submit a reimbursement from CIE.
These two opportunities are eligible for CIE funding whether or not you attended a conference last year. These opportunities are also available to adjunct instructors. Note that adjunct instructors do not need to prepare annual goals.
As a reminder, CIE has changed our professional development funding guidelines after running out of money part-way through last year. Our new guidelines are as follows:
- Regular-status and adjunct faculty are not eligible for funding in FY 25 if you attended a conference in FY 24, with some exceptions.
- Faculty who attended a conference that cost less than $500 in FY 24 are eligible to attend a conference in FY 25. We are including the Lilly Conference in this category even though it costs slightly more than $500.
- Faculty who attended a conference in FY 24 are eligible to attend a conference that costs less than $500 in FY 25 (including the TC Lilly Conference )
- FY 24 — July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024
- FY 25 — July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025
- CIE will reimburse faculty up to $4,000 per conference. Faculty must cover the cost of a conference above $4,000.
Provisional faculty, who are contractually required to attend two conferences each academic year, are guaranteed to receive CIE funding for two conferences no matter what. However, it helps us budget if you sign up for your two conferences sooner rather than later. Here’s the link to the form to request PD conference funding.
