Welcome back to the Sherry Fest Accessibility Challenge! You’ve successfully navigated document structure and perfected your readable text—now it’s time to take your course content to the main stage and ensure every student gets a front-row seat!

We’ve got 10 rock stars keeping pace with the challenge so far, and they deserve a standing ovation! If you’re a few modules behind, don’t stress! The show isn’t over. You can still catch up and complete all modules before the end of the semester to get that Hawk Owl Café gift card and entry into the NMC hoodie drawing. Don’t be a roadie—sign up and join the band!
Dropping the Accessible Album: Module 4 (Audio & Visual Materials)
Imagine you’re the lead singer of a rock band (The Alt Text Angles). Your performance is amazing, but if half the crowd can’t see the lyrics, hear the music clearly, or understand the visual effects, you’ve lost them. This week is all about making sure your media content is a smashing, sensory-rich experience for everyone.
We’re tuning into Module 4: Audio & Visual Materials. This module focuses on the best practices for media, ensuring that you’re not just creating content, but creating inclusive communication.
You’ll be mastering elements that are essential for a perfect performance:
- Images: Ensuring all visuals have high-quality Alternative Text so screen readers can describe the on-stage action.
- Slideshows: Making sure your presentations are structured for both visual audiences and those using keyboard navigation.
- Video & Audio: Understanding the critical need for accurate captions and transcripts so every student can hear the message.
- Audio Descriptions: Providing descriptive narration for key visual information in video, ensuring the entire show is accessible.
Your Objective
Your goal is to complete the entire Module 4 and successfully pass the Audio/Visual Knowledge Check quiz. We encourage you to review a favorite lecture video or image-heavy document and apply these accessibility principles.
To stay on track with the challenge, please complete Module 4 by Sunday, November 16th.
If you hit any bum notes or need help mastering a difficult chord, use the “Questions” discussion at the top of the course.
Let’s keep the Sherry Fest concert rolling—it’s time to make your course media sing!
