The end of the academic year brings opportunities for a (hopefully) lighter schedule, reflection, and opportunities to attend professional development events that one may not have had the time to attend during the hectic school year. EMT is offering three PD opportunities in May and June: Teaching Solutions, the Course Development Institute, and Free the Textbook. However, there are PD opportunities elsewhere in the academia, including some in our own backyard. Here are a few:

AAEEBL Regional Conference (The Association for Authentic, Experiential, and Evidence-Based Learning)
Notre Dame University, May 11 – 12

AAEEBL National Conference
Boston, MA: August 1 – 4

Learning Agility and the Brain: Fostering Learner Success in a Changing World
DePaul UniversityLoop Campus, Chicago, IL: May 16 – 17

e-Cornucopia: Teaching with Technology Conference
Oakland University, Rochester Hills, MI: June 10th

TCAPS Wired EdTech 2016
Traverse City Central High School: August 15th

GoogleFest
Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, Grand Rapids, MI: August 9 – 10

My own reading habit includes flip-flopping between fiction and non-fiction. I also spend quite a bit of time reading about technology trends, challenges and the intersection of pedagogy, content knowledge, and technology. For lighter teaching and technology reading, I keep up with Twitter hashtags like #edtech, #edchat, and #highered. Below are some other resources I’ll be taking in this summer:
