We hope you had a smooth first run through Module 1: Introduction to Accessibility & ADA Compliance.
If you’re still hanging out at the lodge or stuck on the lift, don’t sweat it! You can still catch up. Just make sure to finish all the modules before the season ends to snag that Hawk Owl Café gift card and an entry for the NMC hoodie drawing. Sign up and get started this week.
Now Entering: The Document Structure Slalom
If document standards feel like a steep, unmapped mountain, we’re here to help you find the best line! Assistive tech needs a clear path to follow, and this week we’re learning how to set the “gates” so your students don’t wipe out.
We are officially dropping into Module 2: Document Structure. This module focuses on the markers that keep your documents on track for every user.
You’ll learn how to properly implement key structural elements like:
- Headings: Creating clear, hierarchical signposts for navigation.
- Spacing & Layout: Ensuring a comfortable reading experience.
- Lists and Tables: Structuring complex information correctly.
- Hyperlinks: Making sure destination links are descriptive and clear.
Your Objective
Your goal is to complete Module 2 and pass the Document Structure Knowledge Check. As you learn, try applying these tricks to a few of your own course documents.
To stay on track for the gold, please finish Module 2 by Sunday, February 15th. Use the “Questions” discussion if you find yourself off-trail or stuck in a snowdrift.
See you at the bottom!
