The Writing and Reading Center is a place for any student who is working on any reading or writing, at any time in the semester. Students can visit to talk through ideas for writing, make a plan, look over reading for a class, revise writing, and more.
Please tell your class about the WRC’s services. We recommend appointments and they typically last 30 minutes. We open for the semester September 2nd and will be open the following times:
- Monday – 9:00-5:00
- Tuesday – 9:00-6:00
- Wednesday – 9:00-6:00
- Thursday – 9:00-5:00 Friday – 9:00-3:00
Students can make an appointment by stopping by (SH 221), calling (995-1189), or emailing (writingcenter@nmc.edu). We also provide phone conferences for students. Sign-up for phone conferences is available here.
We’d be happy to provide bookmarks for you to pass out or give class tours. If your class is farther away from Scholars Hall, we would be happy to visit your classroom to talk about our services.
Victoria Willson is our Reading Specialist. She is available to work with students experiencing any struggles with reading. In addition, she can consult with instructors about how to assist their students with difficult reading and offer strategies for navigating course texts.
Let us know if there are any other ways we can help your students.
Thank you for supporting the WRC. Send students our way – we’re looking forward to a busy and exciting fall!
