Last week, the Educational Technologies department had a heated discussion about the best 80s movies of all time. It got a little testy and some people got their feelings hurt, but we narrowed the field to sixteen 80s movies.
We need your help to determine the best 80s movie of all time. This absolutely needs to be settled by a college-wide vote! True to March Madness form we will hold a bracket-style vote over the next few weeks to determine the winner. One movie will win it all. Please use the tool below to submit your vote for the first round and be on the lookout for round 2 coming soon.
Wow, I’m baffled by what made it into your bracket, Ed Tech.
No St. Elmo’s Fire? Weird Science? Sixteen Candles? There is a reason The Breakfast Club aired on TV in a loop for decades. The last 4 minutes of Pretty in Pink remain my favorite movie minutes. https://youtu.be/_qdQGHtSckI?t=92
I mean really. Roadhouse, but no Outsiders? We need to get ya’ll out of the basement.
Ha ha ha ha. Every single one of those movies came up but didn’t make the final cut. These were tough decisions!
We thought about doing a first round of 32, but then we’d be voting until June. And yes, we do need to get out of the basement.
Heathers? Fast Times at Ridgemont High? The Lost Boys? The Labyrinth? Beverly Hills Cops?
I need to see your rubric.
The Color Purple
Rain Man
French Lieutenant’s Woman
Out of Africa
The Verdict
Sophie’s Choice….
I can guess how old you folk were in the 80,s
We need a place for write-in votes!
This should really be a no-brainer. The Star Wars series is akin to the Tar Heels: dominating the 80s.
Now the 90s might be a real challenge. Were there any good movies in the 90s?
