If you wait until the last minute, then the job only takes a minute. I have spent the last week during midterms answering emails and meeting with students in the last-minute throws of studying for the exam. I probably should not have announced the midterm at the last minute. Procrastination seems to take hold the further we get behind. Without the availability of last-minute help, the partial solution falls through the cracks, never to be recovered. A partial solution is sometimes worth salvaging. It does not have to be a complete thought. My first drafts of submissions to these forums often initially take the form of incomplete thoughts. Only seven incomplete sentences are required to reach a final solution of 16 sentences. Starting with those original seven, six more are needed to tie them together. I think the English 111 folks called those sentences transitions. I probably should have paid more attention in that class. Two more sentences are used for the introduction and conclusion. Finally, I like to add a salute to my Lions: Hey, at least we are not 0 and 16 this year, we are just in the middle of a partial solution!
