Did you know you can Export and Import grade items in the Moodle Gradebook?
Export
NMCids, names, email addresses, and grades can be exported to Excel spreadsheets, Open Document spreadsheets, Plain Text files, or XML files. During the export you can select which grade items you would like to include in your report.
We think this is a great way to:
- Figure out mid-term grades without manipulating the Moodle Gradebook.
- Create a backup for your own personal use.
- Check up on Moodle’s math skills – if you’re just not quite sure you can trust Moodle yet.
- Utilize Excel to run comparison reports or analytics on student performance.
Import
Graded items can be imported into the Moodle Gradebook. Note that the grade import is the equivalent to manual grading, so if you import assignment grades, they can no longer be edited via the assignment submission page. Importing can be a great alternative to using Add a grade item in the Gradebook; especially if you currently use Excel (or other digital gradebooks) to keep grades, but would like students to be able to utilize Moodle to keep track of grade progress.
Note: Moodle requires a .CSV or .XML file for importing.
We think this is a great way to:
- Use your favorite gradebook and Moodle’s Gradebook (for your students) without a lot of extra data entry.
- Use the Moodle Gradebook if you have a slow or no internet connection at home.
- Enable 24/7 access to grade totals for your students!
