Films on Demand recently updated their server, and although they have a new look, the service still works the same. You should be aware that some of the video links may have changed because of this server update. If you have links to Films on Demand videos in Moodle please check to make sure the links are still working.
Here are some highlights of the exciting improvements:
- Fully responsive design.
- New video playback controls.
- More powerful search engine.
- New “Did You Mean” search suggestions.
- Improved Speed.
- Improved overall performance.
- Faster page load speeds.
- New instructions on adding segments.
NOTE: there is also an issue with embedded videos when trying to play them off campus. While they work to solve this issue, we would suggest that you just link to videos and do not embed them. If you do have embedded videos in your Moodle shells to Films on Demand and would like assistance updating these to links please submit a help desk ticket to eLearning: General and we can assist you.
Please include the following information:
- CRN to the course.
- Name of film.
- What topic area the film is located in.
If you go through and notice that your current links are not working, you’ll need to update them to the new links. You will find the correct link under the video. Follow these instructions:
- Find the video you would like to use.
- Under the video you will see the word highlight.
- Click highlight.
- The URL will appear highlighted.
- Copy that URL.
- Go to Moodle.
- Turn Editing On.
- Click Add an Activity or Resource where you would like the video added.
- Click Add URL.
- Follow the Add URL tutorial for further instructions.
