There has been a major change to how Remind works for higher education institutions and their texting service will no longer be free beginning September 2, 2024. You can still use it with your students but you will need to change how you do that beginning this fall.

Educational Technologies researched replacements and sat through several exciting sales presentations this summer trying to find a new solution.  While the sales presentations were fun, we were unable to find a cost-effective replacement for this fall.  Here are two options moving forward.

This fall: Use Remind with your students.  You will need to have each student install the Remind App on their phone so they can receive your messages.  The app is free for both students and the instructor but students will receive messages through the app and not as a text message.

This Spring (or when you move to Canvas): Have your students install the Canvas Student App on their phone.  The app is fantastic and when you send an announcement from your course, students will receive a notification on their phone.  There is even a Canvas Teacher App just for you.  Both of the Canvas apps are free.
