The NMC Scan is produced twice a year. The December Scan is our “futures issue” which generally takes a broad look at future issues related to higher education in addition to select topics that NMC is following. This tool can be used in a variety of ways:
  • In class – The Scan offers a wealth of interesting articles which may suggest content for discussion in class. An example is the UofM economic forecasts for the U.S. and for Michigan (December Scan) which may be relevant for inclusion in an economics class discussion. Other examples are the demographics data provided in the May Scan which would perhaps be of interest to sociology and/or philosophy courses.
  • Faculty – The NMC Scan often provides information on trends in learning which would be of benefit to faculty.
Finally, the NMC Scan is a primary input to strategic planning at NMC. Engaging in this content will contribute to a broader conversation about the future direction of higher education and NMC’s future as well. Enjoy the read!
