Kay Harris comes to NMC with a rich educational background. She recently completed the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree and Specialist in Education in General Education Administration in Higher Education from Central Michigan University. Her doctoral research focused on “Linking best practices with student satisfaction and student success in higher education online learning.” Kay also has a Master of Arts in Reading and experience teaching literacy courses as an Associate Professor in Teacher Education.
Kay seeks to enhance learning through blended and online learning. Being dedicated to developing learning organizations, Kay enjoys working with faculty learning communities, creating professional development workshops and fostering integration of technology as a learning tool. She looks forward to working with faculty in developing courses and instructional strategies.
Some of the workshops Kay has presented include:
- Incorporating Best Practices in Face-to-Face courses with Technology and Interactive Strategies.
- Advancing Blended Learning: Understanding Pedagogy, Technology and Content.
- Blended Learning: Effective Pedagogy across Learning Platforms.
With Kay’s interests and research, she believes working as a Curriculum and Instructional Designer for NMC will be a good fit and opportunity to both share and grow. As the ability to comprehend and understand content relies deeply on processing and understanding language, Kay hopes her background and years of experience meeting the needs of diverse populations will benefit NMC.
