This 4 X 4 writing is a thread on Testing. I have been thinking a lot about how, and when I test. I realize that some of my colleagues don’t test at all, which makes me wonder about the validity of my process. What is your approach?

Week one of this thread asks you to think about a few things regarding your process and perspective:
1. Which camp are you in, in PRACTICE?
a. A test is to determine what students know
b. A test can in and of itself be a teaching tool
2. Which camp are you in, in PRACTICE?
a. formative is for me
b. summative-one and done
3.  Which camp are you in, in PRACTICE?
a. Students must return my tests, so they cannot post them online
b. Students can keep their tests, and use them as they wish.
4. Which camp are you in, in PRACTICE?
a. I “teach to the test”
b. “teaching to the test” is something I steer away from.
