COVID-19 has certainly impacted the ways in which NMC’s Student Life team carries out our daily operations.  We understand that this is a time full of unknowns, and that this can create a significant increase in stress and anxiety for all of us.  Students are persevering through figuring out how to tackle online learning, coping with isolation, learning to create and maintain healthy routines, and grieving the educational milestones we would have otherwise all been celebrating together this semester.  Some students are navigating a loss of income, or being quarantined in homes that feel uncomfortable or unsafe to them. Many NMC students are also essential workers who are on the front-lines, serving our community.  There are so many facets of the effects of this pandemic, and it’s absolutely crucial for our students to know that we are still here to help guide and support them. Even though the physical Student Life Office on campus is currently closed, we are still available to provide counseling to current NMC students via phone or Zoom.  In order to reach us, a student may call our Student Life phone number (231-995-1118) and leave a voicemail including their name and student ID, or they can send us an email at studentlife@nmc.edu and request to be contacted by a counselor.  Someone from our office will reach back out to them via email within 1 business day to assist with any needs they may have and/or to set up a virtual counseling session.  Red Flag reports can also still be filed through the MyNMC page if you become aware of any potential safety concerns involving our students. Please feel free to reach out to us any time with questions or concerns – we are here to help!
