Several instructors have noticed a new feature in Moodle that was added this semester.  We recently turned on the integration between NMC’s Mahara e-Portfolio and Moodle.  This has added a new button and option in forums and assignments.  These options can be ignored unless your students are creating e-Portfolios in your program or course.

What is Mahara?

NMC’s Mahara is an e-Portfolio system that can be used by all NMC students and faculty.  It can be used to create an e-Portfolio, student showcase, electronic resume, etc.  The Audio Technology Program is currently using it with its students as one of their final projects. Students are asked to create a portfolio that showcases their experience, work samples, and resume.  Their portfolios have included audio, video, and written documents showcasing the skills they gained throughout the Audio Technology program.

There are several other programs and courses that are considering using the Mahara system to have their students create an e-Portfolio.
