As a benefit of being a Federal Depository Library, the Osterlin library has recently gained access to the Homeland Security Digital Library made available through U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s National Preparedness Directorate, FEMA and the Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security.  This database is AMAZING.

It is a collection of 161,000 private and public resources some dating back into the 1960’s, that directly relate to many areas of study at NMC. It contains access to hard to obtain government documents, dissertations, journals, Presidential documents, research reports, policy documents and much, much more.  Aside from obvious security topics like terrorism, here is a sampling of other topics highlighted:

  • Climate Change
  • Energy
  • Maritime
  • Mass gatherings
  • Pandemic Influenza
  • School Violence
  • Sea Piracy
  • Unmanned Systems
