Hello NMC Faculty and Staff! The Advising team and our Student Success team are working to finalize the details for this year’s Career and Employment Fair! We have over 70 businesses signed up so far, and they are hopeful to get a wide range of applicants to learn about the 200+ available positions. Here’s where you come in!

We’re asking for your assistance to get the word out to NMC students. As someone who regularly engages with our student population, a little suggestion or nudge from you might go further than any of our emails or posters ever will. Practicing interview skills, building resumes, and learning to think on your feet are all qualities we’d like for our students to have when they hit the world of careers- so this is a great way to get out there and practice! Maybe even a little extra credit incentive to give them that extra push might help! We would love a great turnout on the career/job seeker side, and your support would be greatly appreciated!People attending the career fair

The variety of positions is immense with various levels of skill and education required. Cherry Fest is looking for an intern, the Michigan State Police and GT County Sherrif’s Office are looking for officers, various employers are looking to fill positions in the restaurant, retail, and hotel industries, Interlochen is looking for Summer Camp Staff, and so many more opportunities! Summer jobs, internships, full-time work and career-track employment are all represented!

It’s early in the semester- students still have time to brush up their resumes and cover letters, practice their interview pitches, and do general prep for the event. Our NMC career coach would be happy to help get them prepped! They can set up an appointment with Andrea by emailing careercoach@nmc.edu or calling 995-3024. She is also available on a walk-in basis on Tuesdays from 12:30-3 in the Student Success Center O-129 (located in the Osterlin building). Andrea is also available to pop into your classroom and give a brief 5-minute synopsis of the services she offers. Students running short on time? They can always email her their resume for review, or contact her for other free resources.

The Career Fair is being held Thursday, March 1st from 4-6pm at the Hagerty Center on the Great Lakes Campus. There are no fees and no registration is necessary for anyone wanting to attend- students, alumni or community members. Proper business interview attire is encouraged. Students can visit www.nmc.edu/careerfair for more information or to see a list of current employers. You can email me at ssmarsty@nmc.edu if you have any questions!
