100_0018Many NMC students come to college with the idea that their classroom efforts will lead to improved employment options. The process of landing a more fulfilling job involves many pieces including finding the right pathway, gaining knowledge, and developing job skills. This can be thrilling for some students and intimidating for others.   In a continuing effort to ease and facilitate the job search component of that process, the Advising Center will again host a Career and Employment Fair to connect students and community members with employers and internship opportunities. Attending and participating in the fair is great way for students to meet area employers, practice their personal sales pitch, and hopefully, build some confidence. It could also be a potential extra-credit event for those students that go, explore, and gain more experience honing their job hunting skills.

The Career and Employment Fair is on Thursday, March 5, from 3:30-5:30 at the Great Lakes Campus. In the past, over 70 employers have been available to engage with job seekers regarding jobs or internships. The list of employers and career fair tips are available at www.nmc.edu/careerfair. More tips, videos, and podcasts are available at NMC’s new job board partner www.collegecentral.com/nmc. Dana Laursen, Career Coach, will also have Walk-in Wednesdays from 1-2:30 pm in the Student Success Center to help students get ready for the Career Fair. If more time is needed, appointments are100_0017 available by contacting dlaursen@nmc.edu.
