Supporting service learning at NMC and beyond

Service learning integrating meaningful community service with instruction and reflection is on the rise.   NMC now provides support through Outreach Services, coordinated by Nicholeen Frusti.  As a beginning step in growing our existing service learning efforts, such as those by Kristi McDonald and Brandon Evererst, NMC is now a member of the national organization called  Campus Compact.

Campus_Compact_IconResources such as sample syllabi, program development ideas, and more are located on the Campus Compact website.  Additionally, NMC is a member of the Campus Compact Michigan Affiliate, connecting our campus with others across the state for networking, information sharing, and access to grant funding.

Have a passion to be involved beyond your classroom?

The newly formed Service Learning Advisory Board is looking to add members from all disciplines.  Current members are:  Lisa Blackford, Alison Collins, Brandon Everest, Kristi McDonald, Tracy Russo, and Carolyn Shaefer-Hills.  Contact Nicholeen Frusti to become a member.
