Effective June 30, 2014, Video Distribution and VHS technology will no longer be available.
So What if I need to show a film in class?
You can give us a call, stop in, or email mediarequests@nmc.edu and let us know which film you need and if you will be picking up the film, or need us to inter-office it to you. By checking out the films, you can start and stop when needed or pause for discussion (as opposed to having to call someone to start it or stop it for you).
What if I’m still using a VHS tape?
If you have not spoken to our department about replacing a VHS tape that you currently use, please contact Michelle Autry via email (mautry@nmc.edu) or by phone (5-1075) as soon as possible for help in finding an alternative.
What are my alternatives to VHS?
We have been working with instructors to help them find alternatives, and found the following as solutions:
- Replace with a DVD – if the information is still relevant, up-to-date, and available.
- Make a copy – following the rules allowed by copyright, we will advise you on this.
- Finding content on Films on Demand – this resource is available to you and your students 24/7
What are you doing with the old VHS tapes?
Recycling – however, if you would like any of the VHS tapes we have already removed from our library for your own personal library, please stop over to Osterlin 134 and check out what we have.
