Happy New YearHappy New Year! One of my favorite days of the year is the day after the winter solstice because starting that day, every day is a few minutes longer than the one before. So already today, January 4, is eight minutes longer than Dec. 21. And Feb. 4 will be an hour and three minutes longer still. By April 26, we will have two hours and 48 more minutes of daylight than we have today. I see spring semester as one filled with winter beauty but also one in which we climb increasingly out of the darkness and into the light. And this year, after all we have been through, that light will be most welcome. Good luck on the upcoming semester!
